Prof. dr hab. inż. Andrzej Dziech

Professor Andrzej Dziech is a full professor at the Department of Telecommunications at AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. His research area is related to digital telecommunications, image analysis and data processing, information and coding theory, data protection, and watermark technologies. Professor Dziech has been employed at many foreign universities and has recently worked as a professor at the University of Wuppertal in Germany. He is the author or co-author of 5 books (including the author’s monograph “Random Pulse Streams and Their Applications” published by the well-known ELSEVIER publishing house in Amsterdam) and 205 publications (recently published in the most prestigious research magazines in the world – IEEE Transactions on Image Processing), IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security, IEEE Transactions on Multimedia).

Prof. Dziech promoted 19 doctors of technical sciences, including 5 foreigners and about 100 masters. He was a multiple editor of books in the series “Communications in Computer and Information Science” published in Springer. Minister of Science and Higher Education for scientific achievements, he also became the Honorary Ambassador of Polish Congresses (2014) for the organization of international scientific conferences in Poland and the Golden Star of the 7th Framework Program of the European Union 6 gold medals international international fairs and exhibitions (Brussels, Paris, Krakow, 2013 – 2014) for innovative solutions and prototypes in the field of data security and intelligent threat detection systems. In 2018, he was also awarded the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland for scientific and technical achievements.

Prof. Dziech takes an active part in the development and implementation of important research projects. He was a coordinator of 9 national and 8 international research projects.

In the years 2009-2015, prof. Dziech was the main coordinator of a large, integrated project of the European Union INDECT – Intelligent information system supporting observation, search and detection for the security of citizens in the urban environment. 17 European partners joined this project.

Prof. Dziech is a member of international scientific organizations and a member of the KRAB Council – the National Council of Research Project Coordinators. For many years he was the chairman of the Telecommunications Section of the Scientific Research Committee of Poland. He was an evaluator of many research projects of the European Union, as well as an expert of the National Science Center.
