João Diogo Ramos

João Diogo Ramos is an avid entrepreneur with a solid engineer background.  He is currently the CEO and Chairman of RETMARKER S.A., a provider of AI solutions in the field of ophthalmology.

In 2008 he helped to spun-off the company from Critical Software, a global IT provider founded in Portugal more than 20 years ago.

The domain knowledge came mostly from collaborating with AIBILI, the Portuguese research institute created by Professor Cunha-Vaz more than 30 years ago.

Retmarker is an AI technology used in the screening and monitoring of retinal diseases such as Diabetic Retinopathy. It is used in DR screening programs with 500.000 diabetics screened in real life conditions. It is certified as a medical device in Europe and Australia.

Since 2021, Retmarker became part of the Italian METEDA group which is focused in Diabetes and Nutrition and sets a new era for the company.
